Herkesten bir şey öğrenebilir ama birinden her şeyi öğrenemezsiniz. Cahil ve eğitimsiz insanlardan ise öğrenebileceğiniz şeylerin listesini yapmaya kalksak şaşırır kalırsınız. Öğretinin temelinde gözlem vardır; gördüğünüz ve yaşadıklarınız en temel öğrenme biçimidir. Öğrenmek istiyorsanız gözlem yapmalısınız; uyurken öğrenmek mümkün değildir. Uyurken öğreneceğiniz tek şey “uyurken hiçbir şey öğrenilmeyeceğidir”.
Öğrenme hevesiniz olmayabilir, böyle bir amacınız da yoktur ama olmasa dahi insanlar sürekli öğrenir; yaşadıkları onun öğreniminin bir parçasıdır. Herkesin bir hikâyesi vardır; kimi sana ihaneti, kimisi ise felaketi öğretecektir. Birinden onurlu, diğerinden gururlu olmayı öğreneceksin ve bu öğreti ölene kadar bitmeyecek. Öldüğün gün ise öğrendiğin tek şey hayatın her şeye rağmen yaşamaya değer olduğu olacak…
Birinden onuru uğruna hayatını mahvetmesini hayret ve takdir ile izlerken diğerinin gururunu ayaklar altına alışına anlam veremeyeceksin. Karar vermekte zorlanacak, hangisinin doğru olduğuna emin olamayacaksın. Çevrendeki insanlar doğru ile yanlış arasında ayırım yapmakta tereddüt ettiğinde seni bilerek veya bilmeyerek yanlış yönlendirecekler ama sonuca giden yolda verdiğin karar onların değil senin kararın olacak; çünkü verdiğin kararın sonucuna sen katlanacaksın, onlar değil…
Hiçbir zaman “bu benim ne işime yarayacak” deme. Bilgi daima güçtür ve hayatta güçlü olan kazanır. Bil ama kullanma; bildiklerin günü geldiğinde sana yol gösterecek, hayatta başarılı olmanı sağlayacaktır. Tecrübe ile kazanılan bilginin sana ne gibi faydalar sağlayacağını, karar vermek için sadece “birkaç saniye” zamanın olduğunda anlayacaksın. Üzerinde aylarca düşündüğün kararlar artık bir işe yaramayan “anıların” olacaktır ama bu bile bir sonraki kararında sana tecrübe olarak geri dönecektir.
Dönüşü olmayan bir yola girdiğinde geri adım atmak gerekirse bundan çekinme. Geriye attığın her adım ayakların üstünde kalmanı sağlayacaksa, bu ilerleyerek sakat yaşamaktan daha iyidir. Geriye attığın her adım için, gücünü topladığında iki mislini atmaya hazır ol ki moralin yüksek olsun. Moral en üstün değerdir ve bozulduğunda her şeyini kaybedersin. Moralini yüksek tut ve asla ümidini kaybetme, eğer biliyorsan başarıya ulaşmamak için de bir sebebin yoktur. Bil ve sabret. Er ya da geç başarıya ulaşacaksın…
